    Responsibilities

    This key leadership team role will lead our EHS team over two local sites in Shelby, NC. Our EHS Manager will lead the implementation of a prevention-focused environmental, health and safety program.  The position will establish, execute and deliver facility-specific EHS plans that support Clearwater’s overall EHS objectives and maintain regulatory compliance.

    • Provide EHS leadership, guidance and technical support to site Leadership Team on EHS performance, priorities, risks, costs, major issues/concerns and regulatory interpretations.
    • Collaborates with plant team to ensure safe, environmentally practical solutions are achieved for EHS issues.
    • Partner with business leaders/supervision to ensure progressive and effective EHS standards are created, implemented, and results achieved.
    • Leads execution of an annual EHS plan, including development of expense and capital budgets (as needed) to support these efforts.
    • Define and implement strategies to engage site employees in the EHS process.
    • Oversee the site-wide system to identify and evaluate hazards and implement effective controls consistent with Clearwater’s EHS process.
    • Lead incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans
    • Build capability of site resources to support implementation of EHS programs
    • Oversees EHS regulatory requirements; ensures all regulatory requirements are implemented.
    • Develops and maintains EHS systems, processes and records.
    • Develops EHS training to ensure compliance and communicate expectations.
    • Act as the point person and lead interface with regulatory agencies (OSHA, DEQ, etc).
    • Coaches business leaders/supervision to perform timely and effective injury/accident investigations including diligent root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Ensures that required regulatory permits are acquired, that reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions (e.g., sampling, recordkeeping) are met.
    • Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local regulators) on EHS matters.
    • Provides guidance to operations on employees returning to work within their restrictions to encourage return to work at full capacity.
       

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety/Health related field or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum five years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
    • Supervisory experience preferred.

    Skills/Abilities: 

    • Exceptional interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills in developing trusted relationships at all levels.
    • Collaborative partner in building culture and strategy in alignment with business needs.
    • Experience mentoring and developing EHS members.
    • Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal EHS regulations.
    • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Operating knowledge of industrial hygiene equipment.
    • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and sensitive information.
