    The Accountant II is responsible for maintaining the company’s fixed asset system, performing month end closing tasks, assisting in the maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger accounts and preparing basic financial and spending reports.


    Month End Closing

    • Responsible for the proper accounting and month-end closing of specific sections of the general ledger.
    • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
    • Participate in the monthly financial statement close.
    • Monitor and own all aspects of fixed asset reporting
    • Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with GAAP. Prepare supporting documentation and reconciliations for journal entries.
    • Calculate and post monthly accruals and deferrals.
    • Provide training and guidance to lower level accounting staff.

    Financial Reporting

    • Responsible for writing queries, creating reports and performing analyses and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
    • Provide comprehensive fixed asset reporting including general ledger reconciliations, additions, deletions, depreciation forecasts, etc.
    • Assist in all phases of review of external reporting information

    Controls and Procedures

    • Provide information (not limited to fixed assets) as requested by internal and external auditors in a timely manner.
    • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations to validate accuracy of financial information and maintain accurate workpapers.
    • Review and maintain historical data in accordance with corporate record retention policy.
    • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley procedures and ensure an effective system of internal controls.


    Required education and related experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
    • 2 or more years of accounting experience required.


    Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications):

    • Strong accounting and analytical skills and a solid understanding of internal controls and GAAP required.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Advanced proficiency using Excel required.
    • Experience using an enterprise accounting system required.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals across the organization.
    • Public accounting experience preferred.
