    Responsibilities

    Responsible for the management of mill warehouse/distribution functions with focus on implementing best practices, continuous improvement, talent development, cost reduction and enhanced customer service. Responsible for overseeing development strategies, operational planning, financial planning, inventory management, business interfaces, communication, and performance analysis for mill distribution operations. Ensure optimal availability and productive utilization of our inventory across all channels, providing direction on inventory and effective balancing of supply availability to enable Sales opportunities and responsive solutions to changes in demand.

     

    Leadership/Management

    • Provide daily direction and development of warehouse site leaders and distribution staff
    • Development and implementation of functional policies and strategies for the warehouse
    • Create a collaborative high performing environment resulting in an engaged and motivated work force
    • Partner with corporate EH&S team to develop and implement world class safety programs that will improve year-over-year safety performance    
    • Provides support for Customer Service and Sales to achieve or exceed customers’ service expectations  
    • Support execution of facility customer and inventory audits
    • P&L responsibility for manufacturing warehouse site operations 
    • Interface with mill site leadership, mill production leaders and planning/scheduling function to ensure cross functional communication between the warehouse and the mill so all functions have visibility to upcoming orders, in-bounds, out-bounds etc.
    • Assess and provide guidance on product flow, inventory levels
    • Lead warehouse budget management, development of reporting standards and KPI/performance measurement communication that provides visibility and guidance for on-site tactical operations team and business stakeholders
    • P/L budget development and expense execution responsibilities.
    • Continued implementation of guidelines and metrics to drive equipment utilization, labor optimization and continuous improvement to ensure highest overall efficiency at the lowest total operating cost    
    • Provide structural and tactical leadership for daily execution, strategic planning, cost saving initiatives, and overall management of the operation
    • Spearhead new, cutting edge strategic operations initiatives, support planning and prioritization of key strategies that support the business case for supply chain investment and change
    • Interface with Corporate Supply Chain (Distribution, Transportation, Planning, Production Scheduling and Customer Service) on implementing strategies and ensuring target service levels are achieved
    • Provide high levels of customer satisfaction by driving continuous improvement, root cause analysis and risk mitigation

     

    Operations

    • Responsible for Mill warehouse inventory process from conducting physicals, cycle counts and ensuring inventory accuracy for both raw materials and finished goods
    • Support mill service contracts and recommend changes as needed to provide cost savings and excellent service
    • Monitors distribution key performance indicators (KPI) to ensure goals are met
    • Assist Director of Warehouse Operations in establishing distribution center performance objectives and annual strategic planning
    • Analyze throughput information, capacity planning and flow through
    • Analyze operations on a continuing basis and report necessary improvements to the Director of Warehouse Operations in a timely manner
    • Ensure operating efficiencies across all functions of the distribution center operations
    • Be accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives in regards to safety, cost, productivity, customer service and continuous improvement  
    • Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA Standards, as well as, state and local regulatory requirements
    • Help ensure a culture of safety throughout the company by following company safety policies and procedures
    • Monitor distribution center safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in leadership in the Warehousing and Distribution industry 
    • Minimum 7 years supervisory experience
    • Experience designing, developing project specification for WMS and RF technology
    • P & L management required
    • Experience with Warehouse automation a plus
    • Continuous improvement and training experience required
    • Proven track record of cost reduction and productivity gains

    Skills/Abilities

    • Strong understanding of financial concepts related to project evaluation, budget management, and return on investment
    • Must have understanding of all aspects of distribution warehouse operations
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proven leadership skills including organizational, planning, problem solving and ability to multi-task
    • Experience implementing continuous improvement programs
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive employee and customer relationships
    • Inventory control management
    • Workflow and process driven
    • Develop, implement, and manage KPI’s
    • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

    Illustrative Essential Functions

    • On call and available to work as required by the business
    • Office environment as well as mill – hot, dusty, humid
    • Limited travel required
    • Walking, climbing stairs and/or ladders, bending
    • Must wear PPE in mill
