    Clearwater Paper Corporation (NYSE: CLW) is a $1.7B company that manufactures quality consumer tissue, away-from-home tissue, parent role tissue, and bleached paperboard and pulp at manufacturing and converting locations across the nation.

     

    We are searching for an Assistant Superintendent for Power & Recovery. This role will be responsible for the management support of the area. This position will assist the Superintendent and the shift department supervisors in coverage of the department responsibilities and manage and lead the department in the Superintendent’s absence.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Review daily schedule reports to ensure proper staffing levels.
    • Manage day-to-day operations to achieve production goals by implementing process improvements to optimize productions and reduce downtime.
    • Lead the shift supervisors with management coverage of the department.
    • Lead the processes while involving all departments for support.
    • Responsible for day to day area safety and assist with all area safety efforts.
    • Participate or review all safety incidents and investigate root cause. Assure follow-up items are completed in a timely manner.
    • Help support the behavioral safety program (where applicable) and ensure that safe work practices are followed.
    • Lead safety initiatives and provide safety training to ensure safe work practices are followed and enforced.
    • Mentor shift supervisors to ensure quality leadership of hourly personnel.
    • Conduct investigations of safety incidents with shift supervisors and hourly personnel.
    • Develop team in areas of production, safety, quality and overall plant efficiency.
    • Lead day to day department operations for optimized liquor management to ensure maximum pulp production
    • Manage day to day department operation for consistent steam supply to all customers.
    • Lead day to day operations for consistent utilities (water, air and electricity) to all areas of the mill.
    • Responsible for environmental compliance in terms of opacity and water quality.
    • Manage department budget spend and initialize capital projects.

     

    Qualifications

    Required education and related experience:

     

    • High school diploma or GED required.  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
    • Minimum seven (7) years of Pulp and Paper experience required.
    • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.
    • Must be able to work within a union or non-union environment.
    • Experience in successful team concept organizations.


    Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications):

     

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to learn production related programs.
    • Self-directed and energetic, able to lead and motivate others.
    • Knowledge of industry, machinery, equipment and processes
