    Clearwater Paper Corporation (NYSE: CLW) is a $1.7B manufacturer of quality consumer tissue, away from home tissue, parent roll tissue, bleached paperboard and pulp at its 12 manufacturing and converting locations across the nation. The Senior Director, Supply Chain Planning and Operations for our Consumer Products Division (CPD) leads a team of 5 direct and 14 indirect individuals and is responsible for the operational planning processes for a business generating approximately $950M in revenue across 5 manufacturing sites. This role leads planning processes inclusive of S&OP, master planning (paper production and converting) as well as finite scheduling and inventory planning.  As the critical link between sales, manufacturing and transportation this role will deliver executional excellence against key customer satisfaction metrics as well as drive P&L results. This role will also ensure that customers view Clearwater Paper as the preferred strategic long term supplier by delivering on key service metrics and a low cost operating model through overall network optimization. 

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership

    • Lead end to end production optimization, including sales and operations planning (S&OP), scheduling, inventory, and material flow
    • Lead partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities to drive productivity and customer satisfaction metrics
    • Deliver against financial and customer service objectives to position Clearwater Paper as a preferred, low cost supplier to a broad range of retail customers
    • Establish, define, and implement key metrics in support of driving operational performance and customer service
    • Develop and drive long range supply and demand planning, ensure a strong linkage with long term strategic plan for the business
    • Serve as a key member of the consumer products division leadership team, build strong cross functional relationships, collaborate on achieving overall divisional goals, objectives, and budgets
    • Develop team through execution of performance management programs (goals and objectives, individual development, and career development)

    Business Planning and Coordination

    • Drive short and long term planning/scheduling decisions to effectively balance available supply and demand
    • Collaborate with sales and manufacturing to ensure efficient and effective SKU production line assignment, optimize SKU management, and RFQ processes
    • Provide insights on available capacity, manufacturing capability, and demand
    • Develop manufacturing models and corresponding inventory strategies that deliver against customer service and operational cost targets
    • Proactively drive cost optimization projects in sourcing, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and network optimization on an ongoing basis

    Business Optimization

    • Actively participate with sales and manufacturing in both the product development process and long term capacity investment process to ensure alignment with capabilities, customer and market requirements to meet expected growth and deliver overall financial objectives
    • Develop and manage metrics designed to improve performance: capacity utilization, customer service, inventory health, schedule attainment and adherence, change over performance, warehouse space, transportation etc.
    • Drive coordination with IT to fully optimize and deploy ERP and supply chain planning tools ensuring division wide utilization to deliver accurate and timely business performance analytics

    Qualifications

    Education/Experince 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Operations Management or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred
    • 10+ years of increasing experience in production scheduling, inventory management, logistics operations or related disciplines
    • Experience with JD Edwards ERP strongly preferred

     

    Competencies/Abilities

    • Strong understanding of critical financial key levers in production, manufacturing, logistics operations
    • Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed and highly collaborative environment to influence and drive process and change management
    • Demonstrated ability to understand the organizational impact in decision making
    • Demonstrated abilities to identify and lead process improvement initiatives functionally and organizationally applying Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen methodologies and change management
    • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); leading and presenting complex materials for various audiences
    • Current knowledge and proficiency with MS Office suite
    • Able to think strategically; act tactically; hands on
