    Responsibilities

    PURPOSE:

     

    Optimize machine control systems and equipment in a continuous production environment.

     

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Perform all maintenance functions is a safe and healthy manner.
    • Work with electrical engineer and machine process engineer to improve existing controls, streamline operator tasks, increase machine productivity and to lead troubleshooting efforts with ongoing issues.
    • Utilize DCS engineering stations to maintain and modify machine control logic, human machine interfaces, control hardware and machine communication networks.
    • Continually investigates DCS upgrade options and assures control system remains supportable and trouble-free.
    • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the QCS scanner(s) both electrically and mechanically.
    • Ensures all machine control system device programs and settings are backed up on a regular basis to a known and readily available central location.
    • Responsible for maintaining all electrical schematics to insure changes are recorded and that all library copies are accurate and available to all members of the E&I department.
    • Assist with developing data acquisition historian reports and trends.  Also, perform historian system maintenance.
    • Perform resource functions for E&I technicians, including scoping, engineering and ordering parts, as needed.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot all machine instrumentation and electrical systems up to 2300 VAC, as needed.
    • Assist E&I Coordinator with identifying, prioritizing and planning projects, as needed.
    • Attend training as directed by the company to increase equipment knowledge and technical skills.

    Communicate to all other team members openly and perform special or occasional duties as required.

    Qualifications

     MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Associate degree or equivalent.
    • Seven years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience.
    • Siemens distributed control system experience desired.
    • Proficient knowledge and skills with maintaining and repairing Honeywell QCS scanners.
    • Strong troubleshooting expertise of analog and digital controls.
    • Excellent reading, writing and verbal skills.
    • Must be self-directed and able to work with minimum supervision.
    • Must engage in continuing education to increase skills and technical knowledge.
    • Able to work odd shifts and to be on call as company needs dictate.
    • Strong computer skills, including PC hardware and networking.Proficient use of AutoCAD software.
    • Positive attitude with willingness to change with conditions.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

     

    This position requires working in all areas of converting and the paper machine.  Some areas have extreme ambient temperatures and require hearing protection.  Working on and around 2300 volt electrical equipment will be required.  Lifting and bending will be required.  Operating man lifts and working at heights will be required.  Overtime is required to complete critical tasks and meet deadlines.
