    Provide mechanical engineering services to develop and implement capital projects.  Assist operations and maintenance with technical analyses and designs to improve existing processes and equipment.  Manage project work to be in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.  Use engineering standards and specifications in the design and construction of projects.  

    • Lead operating and maintenance departments in developing proposed projects.
    • Develop cost estimates, plans, and schedules for new projects.
    • Prepare and submit authorization for capital expenditure and major repair work.
    • Prepare request for quotes, evaluate proposals, and issue contracts for equipment purchases, material purchases, design services, and construction contracts.
    • Verify existing equipment layouts and dimensions.
    • Provide engineering analysis during selection and optimization of equipment.
    • Provide detailed design drawings for equipment installations.
    • Provide technical assistance to trouble-shoot equipment and/or operating problems.
    • Research options and recommend solutions to resolve operating and/or maintenance issues.
    • Coordinate contractor’s activities for contracted-out maintenance work during equipment downtimes.




    Required education and related experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
    • 7-10 years+ experience in project management and engineering design.
    • Strong desire for Tissue Manufacturing and Tissue Converting experience.
    • Strong desire for LEAN experience and implementation including 5S, TPM, Kaizen events, problem solving techniques and green belt process knowledge.
    • Must have demonstrated strong knowledge to problem solve machine issues.
    • Excellent root cause problem solving experience.
    • Ability to travel up to 20% supporting two production facilities. 

    Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications):

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD.
    • Proficient in JD Edwards or a similar enterprise system.
    • Ability to collaborate with mill personnel on process issues while keeping a focus on safety, quality and performance. 
    • Strong technical knowledge of equipment that allows guidance and training with mill personnel on daily operational issues.
    • Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize daily tasks.
    • Strong communication skills that include both verbal and written communication.
