Overview

Responsible for performing accounting assignments, month-end closing tasks, assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger accounts and preparing basic financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the proper accounting and month-end closing of specific sections of the general ledger.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Participate in the monthly financial statement close.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with GAAP. Prepare supporting documentation and reconciliations for journal entries.
  • Calculate and post monthly accruals and deferrals.
  • Responsible for writing queries, creating reports and performing analyses of financial results.
  • Provide financial reporting and corporate accounting information in a timely manner for external reporting.
  • Assist the Controller with operating statements and reports for use in managing the business.
  • Provide information as requested by the internal and external auditors in a timely manner. This includes detailed account reconciliations and communicating the nature of transactions that have been entered into certain general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations to validate accuracy of financial information and maintain accurate work papers.
  • Review and maintain historical data in accordance with corporate record retention policy.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley procedures and ensure an effective system of internal controls.

Qualifications

Required education and related experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Targeting candidates with 0 to 2 years of experience in principles of accounting including detailed transactions, posting to leger, account reconciliations and analysis, etc.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel knowledge.

Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications):

  • Basic proficiency in using report writing/database programs and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience using an enterprise accounting system preferred.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals across the organization.
  • Willingness to cross-train on other accounting related functions to provide back-up and vacation coverage.
