Quality Engineer

Responsible for quality leadership, quality process/systems support/improvement/optimization, and product quality maintenance.


  • Manages CPD Quality Management System which includes ensuring that quality system elements are consistent and implemented across the organization
  • Maintain QMS documents, records and related systems
  • Ensure effective systems for product traceability, control of non-conforming materials, and corrective actions
  • Lead or participate in annual internal audits
  • Provide guidance for preparation and participation in 3rd party audits at manufacturing sites
  • Maintain product specification, grade recipe, and workmanship standards databases.
  • Work with Technical and Manufacturing to ensure new product specifications/recipes are created and entered into database.
  • Lead regular product performance reviews to evaluate consistency between specifications, national brand equivalent, and actual product attributes.
  • Evaluate and implement new systems and process changes to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and/or improve quality.
  • Working with Quality and Manufacturing leadership, develop quality metrics and reports to improve visibility to quality performance.
  • Ensure effective data tracking systems to enable quality reporting.
  • Develop and ensure product testing methods are consistently implemented across CPD.
  • Investigate and Resolve non-conforming product incidents, customer feedback and complaints, providing corrective action reports, as needed.
  • Provide support to Technical, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and others as needed to meet customer, product quality, and quality system requirements.
  • Provide leadership to corporate and mill employees in the area of quality; is seen as an expert in field; is approachable and willing to help at all levels



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Quality required.
  • Three (3) years professional level experience.
  • Paper or Converting industry preferred.


  • Intermediate knowledge of PI (Process Information System), Parcview, or other data management systems
  • Previous experience using a Production Management system preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent Planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and an intermediate level.
  • Experience managing or working in ISO quality management systems and GMP
