Mechanical Engineer - (Shelby Expansion)

Provide engineering services to develop and implement capital projects.  Assist operations and maintenance with technical analyses and designs to improve existing processes and equipment.  Manage project work to be in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.  Use engineering standards and specifications in the design and construction of projects.



Project Management
  • Assist operating and maintenance departments in developing proposed projects.
  • Develop cost estimates, plans, and schedules for new projects.
  • Prepare and submit authorization for capital expenditure and major repair work.
  • Prepare request for quotations, evaluate proposals, and issue contracts for equipment purchases, material purchases, design services, and construction contracts.

Engineering Design

  • Verify existing equipment layouts and dimensions.
  • Provide engineering analysis during selection and optimization of equipment.
  • Assist with detailed design drawings for equipment installations.

Maintenance and Operational Assistance

  • Provide technical assistance to trouble-shoot equipment and/or operating problems.
  • Research options and recommend solutions to resolve operating and/or maintenance issues.
  • Coordinate contractor’s activities for contracted-out maintenance work during equipment downtimes.




Required education and related experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management and engineering design.


 Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications):


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in JD Edwards or a similar enterprise system.
