Ultra Tissue Technology Engineer

Support Ultra quality process and product development in CPD. Responsible for TAD and NTT technologies in both paper machines and converting.


  • Work with the Technology department, Sales and the manufacturing sites to develop new Ultra quality tier products for the market (TAD and NTT).
  • Develop new product specification for TAD and NTT based products.
  • Develop trial plans for new products and process improvements
  • Improve paper machine processes for greater efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Disseminate information to manufacturing locations to ensure consistent product properties across various sites.
  • Develop and modify TAD / NTT base paper specifications to meet current market requirements and provide consistent finished product across the business.
  • Provide technical problem solving support to operations, including identifying and working with external resources.
  • Support essential process engineer functions at the various paper machine locations.
  • Optimize pulp furnish and chemistry for cost, efficiency and quality. 
  • Coach, develop, and train TAD and NTT manufacturing resources.
  • Provide guidance to Consumer Products Division on operational techniques.
  • Coordinate support activities for trials, start-ups and product changes.
  • Interface with other Clearwater businesses, industry resources and experts to identify common opportunities in technology or process improvement.



  • Bachelor in Science or Technology degree in Chemical or Paper Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Product Development in paper
  • Experience in Ultra quality tier of tissue paper making or converting (TAD and NTT).
  • Demonstrated understanding of tissue paper making
  • Demonstrated understanding of tissue converting.




  • Must have experience with TAD and/or NTT technology in the retail sector.
  • Start-up experience for TAD and/or NTT paper machines.
  • Start-up experience for TAD and/or NTT converting equipment.
  • Product development, trial experience for TAD and/or NTT retail products in North America.
